Ann Mari Linnea Lundgren, daughter of Henning and Edith (Jonsson) Lundgren was born February 26, 1931 at Amsele, Sweden. She immigrated to the US in March of 1949 with her family. She met Harley Carlson the first morning after she arrived and they were married 6 months later. They lived in the upstairs of Harley's father Frank's home when Carol and Kenneth were born. They moved south of Kulm where they continued to farm until 1957. After Harley injured his back and could no longer farm they formed an Implement Dealership with partner Morris Sjostrom, called Carlson and Sjostrom Implement. Ann Mari and Harley moved to Kulm in 1959 for 2 years while she planned out a farmstead 6 miles north of Kulm to move their house. While living in Kulm, Wendell was born. In 1961 they moved to the new farmstead where they lived until 1983 when they moved back to Kulm where they lived until 2000 when health problems forced a move to the nursing home at LaMoure, ND. In 2003 after Harley's passing, she moved to Ave Mari Village at Jamestown, ND where she lived until her death. Ann Mari was planning on being a nurse until coming to the US and meeting Harley. While farming they worked side by side milking cows and other chores. After leaving the farm, she liked working outside improving the landscape as well as knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cooking, volunteer work and taking care of her kids.
