Sep 7, 1934 — Nov 5, 2023
On November 5 2023, we lost a loving mother and grandmother. Alvina passed away at the age of 89 peacefully at the Wentz Assisted Living.
Mass of Christian Burial for Alvina Piatz, of Napoleon, will be held on Friday, November 10, at 2:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. A livestream of the funeral service will be available on the "St. Philip Neri Catholic Church" Facebook page and "St Philip Neri Napoleon" YouTube page. Following the burial everyone is invited to the Napoleon American Legion for lunch and fellowship with the family.
Alvina (Horner) Piatz was born on September 7, 1934 to Peter and Theresa (Becker) Horner. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1952. Alvina married Willie P. Piatz on July 21, 1958 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Alvina was a loving wife for 62 years.
Alvina worked in the Logan County Auditor's Office until she started at the Logan County Soil Conservation District as a District Clerk in 1969. She retired in the fall of 2000. During this time, she also worked sale days in the office at Napoleon Livestock. Up until her death, Alvina's pride and joy was working for her son Darcy at Napoleon Floral and Trophy Haus.
Alvina enjoyed life, especially with her family. Every Sunday, her tradition was making soup and dungas after mass. In her free time, if she wasn't with her family, she was having coffee and visiting with all of her friends. She loved to spend time on her deck, chatting with people as they passed by.
Alvina's devotion to her faith was very important to her. Attending daily mass and weekly adoration was a priority. She always carried a rosary and made time for prayer.
Alvina was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Golden Age and Treasurer for the American Legion Auxiliary for over 30 years.
Alvina is survived by her four children, Debra (Bob) Humann, Darcy Piatz, Dorinda (Barry) Wentz, and Deran (Jenn) Piatz all of Napoleon; 6 grandchildren, Tressa Humann, Cody (Macy) Humann, Kayla Wentz, Shanae (Braydin) Jangula, Claire and Lauren Piatz.
Alvina was preceded in death by her husband Willie P. Piatz; parents, Peter and Theresa Horner; sister, Maggie Schwartzenberger; brothers, Anton Horner and Eugene Horner; brother-in-law, Leo Schwartzenberger; sisters-in-law, Johanna Horner and Irene Horner
