Obituary

The funeral service for Alvina R. Hamel, Napoleon, ND, will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday. January 22, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at Napoleon City Cemetery.

Alvina R. Holzworth was born December 26, 1930 at Herreid, SD to John and Katherine (Libis) Holzworth. She grew up in the Burnstad, ND area and attended country school in the rural Burnstad area. She worked as a waitress at Wurls Café and also at the Movie Theater in Napoleon. Alvina married Charles Hamel on August 25, 1953. They made their home in Napoleon, ND where Alvina started doing woodwork finishing and painting for many people in the Napoleon area. She took great pride in her work and did this for more than fifty years. When she retired, she enjoyed going out for coffee with her many friends. Alvina enjoyed visiting and laughing, and also was known to give the best hugs. Alvina's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a very important part of her life. Alvina was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Napoleon Care Center.

Alvina died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. She was 88 years old.

Alvina is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Tom) Silbernagel, Bismarck, ND, Deborah (Ralph) Mowder, Menoken, ND, Patty (Dennis) Schneider, Lewiston, ID; seven grandchildren, Cari (Donavin) Wiest, Aaron (Chelsea) Silbernagel, Matthew (ReAn) Silbernagel, Jessica (Tim) Busby, Sarah (fiancé Nick Wilkens) Mowder, Kent (Donna) Mowder, Corey (Laura) Mowder, Benjamin (Shandi) Schneider, and Jack Schneider; eight great-grandchildren and another one to be born soon, Mason, Aiden, Ava, Kylie, Aubrey, Miranda, Tyler, Emerson, and soon-to-be Baby Boy Busby; two great, great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Conitz, Bismarck, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers, and four sisters.
