The funeral for Alvin L. Hottman, Dawson, ND will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 at American Lutheran Church in Dawson, ND. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2011 from 1:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery.

Alvin son of Christ and Otelia (Himmerich) Hottman was born November 17, 1937 in Logan County northeast of Napoleon, ND. He grew up and attended Belden Grade School in bunker Township in Kidder County. Alvin attended Napoleon High school and graduated in 1956. He attended NDSU from 1957 to 1958 and started farming in 1958. Alvin began working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service at Slade Nat. Wildlife Refuge near Dawson, ND in 1969. In 1973 he transferred to Long Lake Nat. Wildlife Refuge near Moffit, ND. Alvin retired from the US Fish and Wildlife Service in 1999 after 30 years of service. He bought the family farm in 1995 and resided on the farm until his death. He is a past member of the Liberty Livewires 4H Club, the Napoleon Fire Department for 47 years and the Napoleon Ambulance Service where he served as a Director. Alvin served as President and Director of the Napoleon Wildlife Club, a Hunter Safety Instructor for 22 years, and a member of the Napoleon Golden Age Club. He was a member and Treasurer of the Dawson American Lutheran Church, Sunday School Superintendent for 28 years and also on the church council. Alvin was the Tax Assessor for Bunker Township from 1964 to 1971.

Alvin died Monday, December 5, 2011 at the St. Alexius Medical Center at Bismarck, ND. He was 74 years old.

Alvin is survived by one brother, Dennis Hottman, Napoleon, ND; one brother-in-law, Joseph Rader, Mandan, ND; five nephews, Arvid (Kristi) Rader, Mandan, ND; Orlin Rader, Mandan, ND; Donald (Michelle) Hottman, Napoleon, ND; David (Stephanie) Hottman, Bismarck, ND and Darrell Hottman and friend, Bismarck, ND; one niece, Rhonda (Leonard) Simpson, Hyannis, NE; great nieces and nephews, Ryan, Nicolle and Michelle Rader, Mandan, ND; Brooklyn and Bradley Hottman, Napoleon, ND; Ethan, Braelyn and Cavin Hottman, Bismarck, ND.
