The funeral for Aloysius M. Weigel, 93, Napoleon, ND will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Alois was born in Logan County southwest of Napoleon on November 14th, 1917 to Michael and Margaret (Wangler) Weigel as the second child with four sisters and three brothers. Alois was educated in country schools at Manheim School in Logan County.
Alois served two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC's) during the 1930's which provided support for his family during the Depression Era. Alois was joined in marriage with Mary Bosch on November 8th, 1943 at the Sacred Heart Church in Rosenthal east of Linton, ND by the Reverend Joseph Maichler. Alois and Mary were happily married for more than 67 years. They made their home on a farm fourteen miles southwest of Napoleon until their retirement in 1977 when they moved to Napoleon, ND. During Alois' retirement, he became an avid fisherman spending many hours at the lake and on the ice with family and friends. Always ready for a game of cards from solitaire to Pinochle, he would spend many hours playing never tiring of any of the games. Alois also enjoyed watching some sports like boxing and wrestling on TV. Alois was a visionary coming up with ideas to make tasks easier. He had a knack for building new tools and equipment for the farm to make work easier and more efficient. You could always see Alois' mind toying with ideas when working around the farm or in the field and see a shortcoming in equipment. He would think about the situation for a while and start building plans in his mind and on paper of how to make it more efficient. It would not take long for that idea to go from an idea to becoming reality with his large amount of handyman skills. Something that always made Alois happy was seeing and spending time with his grandchildren (16) and great grandchildren (15). Anytime a baby or toddler was near him he would always smile and enjoy watching them play.

Alois died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. He was 93 years old.

Alois is survived by his wife, Mary and eight children; Helen (Frank) Braun, Napoleon, ND; Dennis (Jackie) Weigel, Kintyre, ND; Sienna (Kevin) Sailer, Hazen, ND; Alois (JoAnn) Weigel; Elmer (Vi) Weigel; Adeline (Addy) Schmaltz; Gary Weigel and Llewellyn (Louie) Weigel all of Bismack, ND; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Bernhard (Katie) Weigel, Napoleon, ND; three sisters, Barbara (Math) Gross, Catherine (Ben) Fettig and Maggie (Joe) Fettig, all of Napoleon, ND; sisters in-law, Helen Wald and Pauline Wald; both of Bismarck, ND; Christine Dorscher, Minot, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Anthony and Baltzer and one sister Anna Mary.
