The funeral for Alice M. Laeger, Kulm, ND will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Kulm Congregational Church at 10:30 AM at Kulm, ND. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home at Kulm, ND. Burial will be at the Kulm Congregational Cemetery, Kulm, ND.

Alice McCone daughter of Robert H. and Marguerite (Bagnell) McCone was born April 4, 1931 in Oliver County, ND. She grew up on the family farm and attended and graduated from Mandan High School in 1949. Alice furthered her education at Dickinson State Teachers College receiving her degree in education. Alice then taught in country schools for 6 years. Alice married James Laeger on June 12, 1955 at Mandan, ND. Following their marriage they returned to the Laeger family farm where they lived and farmed until retiring in 1992. Jim passed away in 2005 and Alice remained on the farm until 2007. Alice was a member of the Kulm United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a life member of the White Stone Homemakers, served on the Farm Bureau Women's Board, was a 4-H leader for many years and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Bus Choir. She will always be remembered for her homemade bread and for being Irish she was a great German cook, teaching her granddaughters, Kati and Karli her art of strudels and kuchen making. Alice also enjoyed many years of travel with Jim, visiting with family and friends and always ready for a good game of Spinner.


Alice died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND. She was 82 years old.


Alice is survived by her two sons and daughter, Jerry (Carla); Don (Tam); Mary Alice (Jeff); six grandchildren, Kati, Karli, August (Ann), Austin (Carmen), Dan, Reka (Jon); four great-grandsons, Rusty, Holis, Beau and Max; one sister, Gevi; two brothers, Bob (Betty); Tom (Mae) and one sister-in-law, Bernice.
