The funeral for Albert "Bert" Schumacher, Napoleon, ND will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer vigil at 7:00 pm at St. Philip Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.
Albert Schumacher son of S. J. and Katherine (Wagner) Schumacher was born November 1, 1939 on his family farm Southwest of Napoleon, ND. Bert attended rural school and was a graduate of River Basin Auction School. He was united in marriage to Mary Beth Gross on October 14, 1961at Napoleon, ND. After their marriage, they lived in Bismarck, ND where Bert was employed by Scherr Plastering. In 1963, they returned to Napoleon, where they built a new home and established their farm, living there until the present time. Bert was a 4-H Leader, was a member of South Central Grain, St. Boniface Church, Cemetery Board, Napoleon Care Center Board, Bowling Team, and Schumacher Auction. Bert was an Auctioneer for 36 years making many friends through his auction service. Bert enjoyed farming, family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards, going to the sales barn with Chad.
Bert died Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Wishek Community Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family. Bert was 79 years old.
Bert is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, three sons, Ron (Annette) Schumacher, Tom (Kari) Schumacher, Bruce (Kristie) Schumacher, and daughter DeAnn ( Paul) Hilz; sister, Carol and Pat Coyle, sister-in-law, Betty Schumacher; grandchildren, Chad, Courtney (Jon), Steven, Zane, Pierce, Kiah, Cade, Alex, Heidi, Troy and great-grandchild Jacob. Also survived by Mary Beth's family, Bob and Judy Gross, Frank and LaVonne Gross, Ron and JoAnn York, and Steve and Rita Ritter. He was preceded in death by his parents, S.J. and Katherine Schumacher, in-laws, Leo and Barbara Gross, brother, Kenny, sister, Vickie and great-grandson Matthew. Memorial can be given to the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church roofing project or the Napoleon Care Center.
