Obituary

The funeral for Agnes Gross, Napoleon, ND will be Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon, ND.
Agnes Weigel daughter of Baltzer B. and Katherine (Wangler) Weigel was born August 30, 1929 on her grandparent's farm in Logan County. She grew up and attended rural school in Weigel Township #4. Agnes worked at home until she was 20 as she was her dad's right hand man. Agnes moved to Bismarck and worked at NW Bell Telephone Co. as a Telephone Operator. Agnes married Andrew Gross May 25, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. They resided on a farm northeast of Napoleon until 1991 when they retired and moved to Napoleon. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, growing flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed accompanying her husband away on trips to Rome, Hawaii, Alaska and other parts around the country. Agnes was the oldest of seven children and despite her lack of love for horses, she drove to and from school with horse and wagon. She looked after her siblings. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.
Agnes died Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. She was 87 years old.
Agnes is survived by her children, Joe G. (Meredith) Gross, Bismarck, ND; Karen M. Lang (Dale Bohl), Mandan, ND; Jeff J. (Sue) Gross, Bismarck, ND; Colleen A. (Kelly) Johansen, Devils Lake, ND; Janet K. Dewald, Napoleon, ND; Richard D. (Sonya) Gross, Napoleon, ND; Andy J. (Carla) Gross, Napoleon, ND; Ray A. (Karen) Gross, Soldotna, AK; 28 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren ; sisters and brothers, Agatha Schaffer, Edgeley, ND; Ben B. Weigel, Bismarck, ND; Caroline (Alvin) Gross, Bismarck, ND; Mary Ann (Clarence) Wanner, Rochester, MN and Medy Gross, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Gross, parents, Baltzer B. and Katherine Weigel, son-in-law, Jeff Dewald, sister, Helen Wald, brothers-in-law, Baltzer Wald, Herman Schaffer and John A.
